A variety of
discoveries in the field of social science offer tremendous opportunities for
improving the human condition. I am referring to the social network phenomenon.
Our humanity is rapidly changing because of social networking. Science is
becoming more interdisciplinary and more collaborative. Consequently, the
results of scientific study are better and more useful. If two heads are better
than one, think how much better millions of heads are that are connected by
networks! Science needs data, analytic ability, and ideas. The age of computers
and the Internet and networked people provides huge amounts of all those necessary
things.
Computational
social science is going to bring a hurricane of changes. We will have the data
and the networks to inspire cooperation that will be beneficial for mankind. I
hope I can be around to enjoy it!
The Tsar notices that social media and communications have made it far easier to spread anger, hate and self-serving claptrap such as "global warming." What's not to hate?

Yes, there is a negative side for anything and everything but I prefer to dwell on the positive side. Between your point of view and mine, I think there is a middle ground that is more realistic.
DeleteThe Tsar fails to see anything negative about good beer. He recognizes no middle ground on the nontrivial subject. But back to the subject: Given the insouciance of the average social networker, the Tsar proffers the compelling notion that serious stuff should have it's own WWW, the World Wise Web. Thusly, the overwhelming avalanche of trivia could not wipe out the searing salience of the utterances by the Freelance Thinker and TsarPat.
DeleteHumbly yours,

The negative side of good beer is over indulgence and obesity. The middle ground is moderation and happiness. The average social drinker and the average social networker have much in common but I was talking about the amazing networking of the world's scientist. Otherwise, I agree that the Tsar and I have utterances of searing salience!
