MY FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD IN CHICAGO

Lincoln Square is a neighborhood on the north side of Chicago that is filled with young families and even though it is surrounded by a huge city, it seems like a friendly small town. The business district has unique  European-style cafes, delis and specialty stores. You can get virtually anything you need within walking distance of where you live. Surrounding the business district there are quiet, tree-lined streets where close-knit residents gather for events year around in the area's parks, churches and public squares. They have a Summer Concert Series, Folk and Roots music festival, and a German/American Festival that draws people from all over the midwest.

My daughter Marcy, her husband Stephen Riley, and her 3 year old daughter Emily, are lucky residents of this lovely area. I am visiting them this week to help get things ready for the arrival of a baby boy. Marcy is pregnant and due to deliver in two weeks. It is an exciting time in the life of the Riley family. Yesterday, Marcy and I had lunch on the outside patio area of a quaint cafe called Selmarie. It is located next to the beautiful downtown square. We had an enjoyable discussion about how life will change for them upon the arrival of Emily's baby brother. It was perfect weather, a delicious lunch, and a stimulating conversation about one of life's great events! Life is good.
